The median nerve controls the movement and sensitivity in the thumb and fingers (except the little finger). Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs where the median nerve is compressed causing a range of symptoms in the hand from numbness and tingling through to loss of grip. This condition can be mildly uncomfortable to debilitating causing you to drop items. Carpal tunnel can be caused by a number of reasons including: pregnancy, repetitive use, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, family history. Women are three times more likely than men to get it. Perhaps you have noticed more tingling or pain in your hands and wrists since working from home, and not having the ergonomic equipment usually provided. Reflexology can help to reduce inflammation, improve the messages sent through the nerves, improve circulation to get nutrients the nerves, and improve movement in the wrist joints, and reduce pain.
