20/7/2021 0 Comments Hiatus HerniaA hiatus hernia is a common condition whereby part of the stomach protrudes through a weak spot in the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a sheet of muscle separating the lungs and chest from the organs in the abdomen.
It is not known for certain what causes it but risk factors include smoking, obesity, and pregnancy. It affects more people over the age of 50. Symptoms include heartburn, acid reflux and pain.
