***Please read to the end *** If you are new to reflexology or not sure if it is something that would help you, I would like to tell you about a client (with their permission) that I have been helping over the past couple of months. My client came after a diagnosis of long covid. She was experiencing fatigue, which she was managing, but she was also experiencing very painful legs. This was a challenge as we have very little evidence yet about how to manage long covid through reflexology, however, I used my nursing knowledge and experience, to put together a programme to help. The symptoms she reported were very similar to chronic fatigue syndrome. By using my reflexology knowledge of that condition, I have managed to help the client reduce the pain in both her legs. At her first session she needed to keep adjusting her position because of the pain. I could not finish treating one foot without her needing to stop and let her leg drop over the edge of the couch, bend her knee, massage her thigh and calf muscles etc. There was evidence of pain in her face throughout. At her third session we managed to almost complete one foot before she needed to move. This was already a huge improvement. Now, after seven sessions, we managed the whole session with her completely relaxed and no position adjustment. She reports her pain levels are significantly reduced between sessions as well. I believe my knowledge and understanding of reflexology but also my nursing knowledge has helped to give the highest level of support for all my clients.
