Has this worsened since working from home, or after a long drive, or for no apparent reason? The bones in your neck, called the cervical vertebrae, are very delicate but are also strong and flexible due to the supporting muscles, ligaments and tendons. There are 7 bones in the neck, the same as a giraffe! The cervical spine supports the head (weighing 10-13 lb) and houses the spinal nerves that connect with the brain. The vertebrae in the neck also carry blood vessels to the brain. So, the neck is a part of the body that we really need to look after. Damage to the vertebrae, muscles, ligaments and tendons can occur from looking down at mobile phone screens, computer screens not set at eye level, driving for long periods, stress causing tension in the neck, to name a few. Tension and damage in the neck can cause many symptoms including: headaches, migraines, dizziness, vision difficulties, tingling in arms/fingers, high blood pressure, breathing difficulties. Reflexology helps to reduce tension, stress and inflammation, lowers blood pressure, improves circulation and nervous system.
