Osteoporosis is the thinning of bones, causing them to be porous, less dense, and more prone to fractures. The condition is more common over the age of 60 years, and more likely to affect women. It is particularly common in women after the menopause due to falling oestrogen levels. Oestrogen helps to retain calcium in the bones. Reflexology helps to improve circulation which allows calcium to move around more freely and help to heal bones. It also improves lymph flow which reduces inflammation and helps reduce pain. I am a nurse who has experience of nursing people with this condition. I understand how painful, debilitating and frustrating it can be.
