Preparing for Birth

In the previous posts this week I have looked at preparing the body for pregnancy and up to 36 weeks as the baby develops and mum’s body adjusts to cope with this. Today I am looking towards preparing for the birth.
Reflexology in these final weeks (around 37-40+ weeks) can help prepare the body for birth. It helps with production of oxytocin from the pituitary gland, which stimulates the womb to contract during labour.
Reflexology at this time also focuses on relaxing the pelvic and sacral areas to prepare for childbirth. The pancreas reflex is worked to maintain blood sugar levels, and heart reflex to balance the additional increased load on mum’s heart.
