Reflexology map

Picture
A question I am frequently asked is “how do you know what part of the body has an imbalance?” This usually comes up at the end of a treatment when I am explaining to my client where I have felt an imbalance in the body.
The answer is: using a reflexology map.

A reflexology map shows a plan of your whole body projected onto your feet. Each part of the body is shown on a certain part of the feet. There are slight variations in the maps but essentially they are a guide to the specific reflex points used in a reflexology treatment.

The map shows that although there are many reflexes on your feet, the right foot stimulates all the organs on the right side of the body, and the left foot stimulates the organs on the left side of the body. The toes represent the head area and all the structures contained within. The ball of the foot represents the chest area, including lungs and heart. The narrowest part of the foot, containing the arch of the foot, contain the abdominal organs. And the heel represents the pelvic organs essentially. Other structures, such as part of the lymphatic system, are found on the top of the foot.

The reflexology map gives us a basic guide of these structures but everyone’s feet are different, therefore there has to be some adaptation allowed.

The main things that we know, by using the map, is that pressing the feet reflexes can help you with physical and psychological imbalances.
