When the lymph fluid gets filtered in the lymph nodes, the white blood cells destroy the bacteria, virus, or other pathogen. The lymph fluid containing the dead pathogen then gets carried back to the bloodstream and filtered out in the liver and kidneys. During reflexology for lymphoedema, aside from the lymphatic system, it is important to pay additional attention to the liver reflex because it filters out the toxins. When the liver becomes sluggish, toxins build up, and the body cannot function efficiently and it affects immunity.
