Thymus gland

You may not have heard about the thymus gland but it has a powerful influence on our immune system.

You may notice that if you are going through a period of stress you pick up whatever virus or bug is going around. This is because the thymus gland, which is involved in sending out antibodies, actually shrinks under stress, therefore fewer antibodies are released.

Interestingly the thymus gland starts producing antibodies before we are born and has produced all we need by the time we reach puberty. After puberty it gradually shrinks and the lymphatic system works hard to continue the fight against infections.

Reflexology is a great way to support your immune system, balancing your entire lymphatic system. If you are going through a stressful time, or finding your immune system is not as efficient as it used to be, get in touch and book your reflexology session now.
