Apart from making food taste amazing, it has a use as a pain reliever and healing agent. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, useful to help with pain in arthritis. It is also an antioxidant helping to protect the liver from damage. This is particularly recommended if you are taking long term strong medication. Turmeric also helps with digestion, particularly useful if you experience irritable bowel syndrome. However, if you are taking blood thinning medication, you should avoid taking turmeric as a supplement. It lowers cholesterol and blood pressure which can also increase the chance of bleeding. As a nurse and reflexologist, I have a passion to keep you as healthy as possible. Whilst reflexology is amazing at helping the body rebalance itself, it often requires an holistic approach.
