For me, it is definitely “something else”! I love helping people to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally. I am empathetic which is why I went into nursing at the tender age of 19. Last week I had 2 stand out moments that totally reminded me that I’m doing a good job. The first was my lady with lymphoedema who I have worked with since September last year and reduced her legs by around 4 cm. She went to her appointment at the lymphoedema clinic and were amazed at the difference. She has had to have new compression stockings because her current ones are now too big. She was told “keep doing the reflexology because it’s working”! Another client with a degenerative condition affecting the nerves in his feet, affecting the shape and sensitivity, and causing balance problems. He reported that he noticed his balance was better because he could feel his feet connecting with the floor for the first time in years. I loved seeing how thrilled and excited they were at the difference in their symptoms. I have to admit to feeling quite choked up. These were physical conditions, but I have achieved similar results with anxiety and depression symptoms in clients. The results don’t happen overnight, they need working on regularly, but even from the first treatment clients often report improved sleep, or slightly less pain, or calmer digestive system.
